JACK MOORE & 555 SOUL

FW23 Artist Feature
For its latest project, 555-SOUL reintroduces their iconic artist spotlight series from the 90’s and early 2000s, Define Your SoulTriple 5 Soul founder Camella Ehlke always sought to emphasize and support the artists in her community.  The Define Your Soul project was her way of featuring the individuals who inspired her. The series highlighted legendary creatives such as Mad Lib, Mark Ronson, Mos Def (Yasiin Bey), Miho Hatori, Steve Caballero, and Bobbito.

For their first modern-day Define Your Soul installment, the creative team tapped Brooklyn-based visual artist Jack Moore. Moore is known for his paintings of surrealistic characters and landscapes with expressive color palettes. Camella was drawn to working with Jack because of his vibrant work, personality, and passion for creating. Jack was mutually inspired by Camella’s legacy, 555-SOUL’s rich history, and the ability to work together in Brooklyn.

The collaboration set out to create a limited capsule collection that showcases Jack Moore’s artwork and Triple 5 Soul’s present inspirations. The project culminated in a two-piece denim set that features Jack’s painting, Untitled. They created a unique all-over print for the loose-fit denim pants and jacket, expanding the piece beyond its normal frame. The team was inspired by Triple 5 Soul's legendary denim sets from the early 2000s. The garments for this project are made with 100% recycled cotton and the print is water-based.

Jack sat down for a brief interview to discuss the project and his personal history. He offers unfiltered insights into his artistic journey and connection to Camella and Triple 5 Soul. 555-SOUL worked with three other NYC artists to capture the project: Atticus Radley photographed the lookbook, Shawn McCarney Alviz shot the video, and Jonathan Wright conducted the interview and created the score. The campaign was shot in Jack's art studio and a few of his favorite spots throughout the city.
The Jack Moore x 555-SOUL collaboration is available now at triple5soul.com. Triple 5 Soul's next Define Your Soul feature will be in Spring 2024. Stay tuned for details about our upcoming project with Concepts this Winter.
