T5S - ICONIC 1/4 ZIP - 1991
The 1/4 zip ls shirt was an iconic piece for 555 soul. Always with funky zipper tape and little details.
My shop was in the lower east side, an old school neighborhood with tenement housing, old tailor shops, fire escapes
and bodegas. I used to buy my fabrics from this place filled to the brim with deadstock textiles from the garment center.
Each of my designs I would make a pattern and layout with assorted materials, different colors for the sleeves and bodies, etc.
This zip shirt started out in assorted suit and woolen fabrics because the fabric shop stocked fabrics for the tailor shops.
eventually I went in the casual lane and bought knits.
I was very excited to have 555-SOUL twill tape printed and I would use it everywhere because i had to make 10k yards.
